Where you are moving from and to, when, and roughly what is coming with you. It takes about two minutes, it costs nothing, and you are not committed to anything at the end of it.
Oberhausen sits at one of the busiest junctions of the Ruhr area. That makes moves in every direction easy, as long as you plan for the traffic around the Neue Mitte. Comparing shows which moving company takes that into account.
Oberhausen has three centres, and you notice it when you move. Alt-Oberhausen in the south with the city centre around the Marktstraße, Sterkrade in the north with its own town centre, and Osterfeld in between. In the middle lies the Neue Mitte with the CentrO shopping centre and the Gasometer, surrounded by motorways, the canal and the Emscher.
At the Oberhausen interchange the A2, A3 and A516 meet, and the A42 runs through the north of the city. For moves towards Duisburg, Essen, Bottrop or the Lower Rhine that is ideal. At the same time, traffic regularly backs up here in rush hour. Around the Neue Mitte, shopping traffic is added, especially on Saturdays and in the run-up to Christmas. Anyone moving nearby should put the date on a weekday morning if possible.
In Alt-Oberhausen and around the city centre there are many apartment buildings from the late nineteenth century and the post-war period, often with three or four floors and no lift. In Sterkrade, Osterfeld and the northern districts, detached and semi-detached houses and former mining settlements predominate. There the approach is usually easy, but cellar, garage and garden are added, which are quickly forgotten when planning.
In the quote this shows up as follows: in an apartment building without a lift, floors and stairs count; in a house in Sterkrade it is more the cellar, garage and garden. And because Oberhausen sits at a motorway junction, the same route can take twice as long at seven in the morning as in the late morning. How the individual items add up is explained in Calculating moving costs.
Around the Marktstraße and in the dense streets of the city centre, a no-parking zone is the most reliable solution; in Sterkrade or Osterfeld your own driveway is often enough. It is applied for at the City of Oberhausen, and because the signs have to be up some days beforehand, allow three weeks. Oberhausen lies in the Ruhr low-emission zone, and hired vans need the green sticker.
Oberhausen borders on Duisburg, Mülheim, Essen and Bottrop, and many moves cross those boundaries. Moving companies from the neighbouring cities serve Oberhausen just as well. With one request you reach the companies whose area covers your address, and can compare quotes at your leisure.

Every request is read by a person before it goes anywhere. It then reaches the companies whose service area covers your pick-up address — you do not have to find them or ring round.
Each one arrives by email with a link to your own page. Compare the prices, read what each company says it includes, and ask them anything before you decide.
